Last updated October 27, 2026. This explains what IvyUp collects through this website, how we use it, and who we share it with. Tutoring sessions themselves, including session recordings, are covered by the agreements and notices we give families and tutors before sessions begin.
If you request a tutor. This form is for parents and guardians. We ask for your name, email, phone number, and time zone. About your student, we ask only for their first name and grade. We also ask what they need help with, your goals, any upcoming test date, when sessions could work, how many sessions you'd like, and how you heard about us. Some answers are free text, so we also receive anything you choose to write there. Please don't include sensitive details you don't want us to have.
If you apply to tutor. We ask for your name, email, phone, school, year, major, and location. We also ask for the subjects you can teach, test scores (optional), your availability, your tutoring experience, a short bio, and your answers to two short questions. If you become a tutor, we will collect what we need to pay you and meet tax requirements, and a background check may be run by a separate provider. We'll explain that process at the time, and it does not happen through this website.
When you visit the site. Like most websites, our hosting and spam-protection providers process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, so the site can work and so we can block spam and abuse. We don't use analytics or advertising tools.
This site is meant for parents and guardians, and for tutors who are 18 or older. Students should not fill out our forms themselves. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal information directly, we will delete it.
We do not sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. Our spam-protection provider may use cookies or similar technology needed to tell people from bots. IvyUp staff use a sign-in cookie in our private admin area. Because we don't track visitors across other websites, we don't change anything in response to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
Access to requests and applications is limited to IvyUp staff who need it, and requires signing in. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or system can be completely secure.
IvyUp will never ask you for a password, full Social Security number, or bank or card details by email or text message. If someone claiming to be IvyUp does, please don't reply, and let us know at hello@ivyup.org.
We keep requests and applications while we need them to match tutors and families and to provide tutoring, and for as long as we need records for legal, tax, or dispute reasons. After that, we delete them.
You can ask us to update or delete your information by emailing hello@ivyup.org. To protect you, we'll confirm the request with the email address we have on file before changing or deleting anything. We may keep some information when the law requires it, or when we need it to resolve a dispute or prevent fraud. Deleted information can remain in backups for a limited time until it's overwritten.
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also take reasonable steps to let you know, such as a notice on the site or an email.
