Meet the people behind IvyUp. Every tutor is a college student who has recently mastered the material they teach.
Max A.
Co-Founder & Tutor
Hello, my name is Max. I’m a freshman at Cornell Engineering. I co-founded IvyUp so that students can access support and resources throughout the difficult college admissions process. I cherished my time on the robotics team throughout high school, as well as the amazing community I was a part of there. I also completed a summer internship at a machine learning company. In my free time, I love to go fishing or hike through the nature around Ithaca.
Fun Fact
I love to rollerblade, and winter is my favorite time of year because of ice skating!

Ilana L.
Tutor & Research Consultant
Hi! I’m Ilana, an Electrical and Computer Engineering student at Cornell University. I have prior experience tutoring math and English, and I’m very familiar with creating detailed study plans for students of varying skill levels. I was an AP Scholar with Distinction and currently do Alzheimer’s and BCI (brain-computer interface) research with researchers at Yale. My style is patient, step-by-step breakthroughs of concepts, mixed in with lots of handmade questions, so my students understand the “why” behind a subject rather than just memorizing it.
Fun Fact
I play the oboe and used to fence competitively.

Chloe K.
Tutor
Hi! My name is Chloe, and I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Cornell University. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in their academic abilities and better understand the material they are learning. I hope to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is to make learning less stressful and help each student reach their full potential by uncovering all of the tedious details of the topic of interest.
